Skyler K. Schaum, Esq. has been with Cabanillas & Associates, P.C. since July 2022 and is an Associate Attorney who works out of our Riverhead, NY office. She is admitted to Practice in New York and Ohio. Attorney Schaum is part of our Family/Matrimonial team and dedicates her time to cases before the various Family Courts in the State of New York. She has a moderate background in immigration defense work but has really found her niche in representing children in the Special Immigrant Juvenile Status Process. Her passion first is for people and getting them the best possible outcome.

Attorney Schaum earned her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with a Minor in Psychology from Northern Kentucky University before attending Law School at the University of Dayton-School of Law for her Juris Doctorate with Certification for Concentration in Personal & Family Law. Attorney Schaum comes to New York from the south having spent most of her formative years in the Northern Kentucky area just south of Cincinnati, Ohio. Attorney Schaum has been in practice for almost 2 years now and is excited to grow and develop with Cabanillas. Attorney Schaum is a member of the New York State Bar Association and hopes to become more involved with this organization.

When she is not practicing law she enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, shopping, exploring New York, watching movies, and taking walks with her dog Hugo.  Growing up, Attorney Schaum always aspired to live in New York as she has a love of Broadway and all things performing arts. Attorney Schaum considers herself a movie connoisseur and can often be heard quoting movie lines in conversation. An adventurer at heart, she is always looking for new restaurants, travel, and outdoor exploration recommendations.
